PYONGYANG, March 15 (Xinhua) -- The official daily of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Thursday branded the United States as the world's worst human rights abuser.

The United States is making desperate efforts to tarnish the international image of the DPRK while resorting to the frantic human rights campaign against it, Rodong Sinmun said in an article.

"It is the height of folly for the U.S., which has seriously threatened the right to existence of the Korean people through persistent sanctions and blockades to violate the sovereignty of the DPRK with nuclear weapons for decades, to voice 'concern' about its 'human rights performance,'" said the daily.

What's more, adding that the world's worst human rights abuser is none other than the United States, the daily said "democracy is crudely violated" in the United States.

"There are over 200 countries and regions in the world but there is no such a vicious human rights abuser as the U.S. in which all kinds of crimes stalk and police indiscriminately kill defenseless people," said the official daily of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea.

The article also accused the United States of violating human rights in other countries in a shocking way.

"The U.S. is the kingpin of human rights abuses and harasser of peace" and doesn't even shy away from "even sanguinary massacre in order to realize its domination ambition," it said.

The DPRK has rejected accusations of human rights abuses by the United States and other Western countries.
