BUENOS AIRES, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Brian Aguirre scored a second-half goal as Estudiantes moved two points clear at the top of Group A with a 1-0 away win over Instituto in Argentina's Apertura tournament on Saturday.
The visitors went ahead in the 51st minute when Aguirre cut inside from the left flank and lashed a low 18-yard drive past goalkeeper Manuel Roffo.
The hosts controlled more than 50 percent of possession but could manage only two shots on goal for the match.
Estudiantes now has 27 points from 14 games, two ahead of second-placed Velez Sarsfield, which has a game in hand. Instituto is 10th in the 15-team group with 17 points.
Elsewhere in Argentina's top flight on Saturday, Gimnasia La Plata won 1-0 at home to Estudiantes de Rio Cuarto, Independiente eased to a 3-1 home win over Defensa y Justicia and Argentinos Juniors clinched a 1-0 home victory over Atletico Tucuman. ■
