AMMAN, March 12 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan on Monday reaffirmed its rejection to all unilateral Israeli measures in Jerusalem and its repeated violations against the shrines in the holy city, state-run Petra news agency reported.

King Abdullah II made the remarks during his meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the capital Amman, where the two leaders looked into the latest developments and the efforts for the peace process.

They also agreed on continued coordination over the Palestinian issue and Jerusalem.

Jordan fully supports the Palestinians in defending their legitimate rights and establishing an independent state on the national Palestinian soil, the Jordanian king said.

Jordan will continue to exert full efforts to revive the peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis based on the two-state solution, the Arab peace initiative and the international legitimacy resolutions, he added.

King Abdullah II said achieving lasting and just peace is the sole way to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and realize stability in the Middle East.

For his part, Abbas commended Jordan's efforts and support to the Palestinians, and voiced his appreciation for Jordan in protecting the holy sites in Jerusalem.
