CAIRO, July 4 (Xinhua) -- The Arab Parliament condemned on Wednesday the EU's resolutions on the human rights conditions in the Arab world.

The condemnation came at the Arab Parliament's second legislative chapter sessions held in Cairo, during which the pan-Arab legislative body discussed a number of issues related to the Arab world.

The Arab Parliament said the resolutions, issued by the European Parliament, run counter to the principles of good neighborliness, state sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of other states.

In February, the European Parliament deplored in a resolution the practice of capital punishment in Egypt, calling on the Egyptian authorities to halt the "judicial and extrajudicial executions."

Another resolution was passed in June, urging the Bahraini authorities to refrain from all torture, cruel and degrading treatment of detainees.

Meanwhile, the Arab Parliament asserted the keenness of the Arab countries on respecting human rights and the citizens' dignity and freedom besides their economic, social and political rights.

It also expressed rejection to the interference of the European Parliament in the internal affairs of the Arab countries, slamming the way it deals with sensitive issues related to the security and stability of the Arab world depending on misleading sources and false information.
