JERUSALEM, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday threatened Lebanon's Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah with a "crushing blow" if the Shiite militia attacks Israel.

His remark came in response to Nasrallah's earlier statement that Hezbollah had acquired "precision missiles" despite Israel's extensive efforts to prevent it from acquiring these weapons.

"It has been done. The resistance now owns precision missiles," Nasrallah said in a televised address during the key Shiite Ashura day, the 10th day of the first month of the Islamic calendar.

"If Israel imposes a war on Lebanon, it will face a fate that it never would have expected," the Hezbollah leader warned.

Netanyahu responded to the warning during a bible study session at the Prime Minister's Residence in the disputed holy city of Jerusalem.

"If he (Nasrallah) confronts us, he will receive a crushing blow he can't even imagine," the Israeli prime minsiter vowed.

Earlier in September, Israel admitted carrying out more than 200 strikes over the past 18 months in war-torn Syria, where Hezbollah is fighting alongside Iranian forces in support of the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
