In the mountains, young girls are excited for a football championship, though their shoes almost worn-out and can hardly run.

This is a scene from Girls and Soccer, one of the movies being screened in a “beach theater” on the coast of Sanya, south China's Hainan Province.

The beach theater, a new creation of the 1st Hainan Island International Film Festival, is open for free to all -- visitors and local residents.

Everyday when night falls, stars and moon rising in the sky, waves lapping at the shore, movies will be projected on the huge silver screen erected on the soft sands.

Locals after a whole day's work and tourists from far will gather, standing, sitting or even sprawling in the cool breeze and enjoy their movie time.

Among the audience, there is one man in dark suits and black shirt from Hollywood, named Ji Feilong. Ji, born in Hainan, is now a Hollywood actor and invited to take part in the film festival.

Ji said the beach theater reminds him of his childhood when people watched movie on the beach under the night sky. And since then, the movie dream has deeply rooted in his heart.

When the young girls of the Li minority ethnic group from the mountainous areas of Hainan won the championship for China at the end of the movie, he was deeply moved.

Witnessing the great success of the international film festival, Ji feels so proud of his hometown for its achievements in the film industry.
